Meet Reed Sothoron and Kyle Fiat, the professional coaches at Beat the Sun Training. These experienced athletes and trainers are committed to helping you achieve your endurance goals.
Reed is an endurance coach and long-time fitness professional who has been in the industry for over 12 years. From 2010 to 2020, Reed was general manager and head fitness trainer at the Under Armour Performance Center in the company’s headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. Reed’s mission is to help people train in a pain-free manner and to educate them on how to complete the fundamental movements properly so that one day, they can achieve their unimaginable goal of completing their endurance race!
Reed has trained every type of client, whether it be pre/post-natal, athletes, amputees, quadriplegics, seniors, and members of the general population. He has an immense amount of experience in training everyday working people, including those in great physical shape and those who may have fallen out of shape, getting them prepared to accomplish their very first endurance event. He has also helped his clients jump to the next level of endurance racing, whether it be a 5k, half marathon, marathon, or even a triathlon. Reed prides himself on pushing his body beyond his physical limitations not only to prove to himself that anything is possible, but to show his clients, family, and friends that you can do anything as long as you believe in yourself.

Coaching Achievements:
Kyle has been a high school physical education teacher and Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach in Baltimore County for 17 years. Kyle has coached and taught in Baltimore County since 2007. He stepped down as head varsity lacrosse coach in 2024 after 18 seasons of coaching Dulaney Lacrosse. During this time, he has trained hundreds of high school athletes as well as coached many youth and adult athletes as they trained toward accomplishing their goals. Kyle lives in northern Baltimore County with his wife and identical twin daughters. He grew up in Salt Lake City, UT and spent countless hours in the mountains snowboarding, skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. He played football and lacrosse in high school and finished his college career playing Division I Lacrosse at Towson University. After college, he played two years of professional lacrosse for the Philadelphia Wings (NLL) and Chesapeake Bayhawks (MLL). In 2007, he represented Team USA in the World Indoor Lacrosse Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Fitness has always been an important part of his life, and in 2021 he took on the challenge of his first triathlon. Through the fall of 2021 and summer of 2023, Kyle completed a Sprint Triathlon, an Olympic Distance Triathlon, Goggins 4x4x48 challenge, 3 Half Ironmans, and 2 full Ironmans.
